Charity

Here at Ross & Ross Gifts we have chosen FareShare as our charity that we will be supporting.

They have similar thoughts to us and believe that no good food should go to waste. So they redistribute surplus food to charities that turn it into meals.

FareShare redistributes surplus food to almost 11,000 charities across the UK – from domestic violence refuges and breakfast clubs for children, to homeless hostels, community cafes and lunch clubs for older people. As well as tackling hunger and food poverty, the charities we supply seek to address the multiple challenges faced by some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.

2019/2020 has been FareShare’s biggest year yet with a huge increase in the number of community groups benefiting from our service. The number of charities that we support increased to 10,962 and the number of people accessing FareShare food each week rose to 933,178.

The food they redistributed contributed towards 57.3 million meals and saved the charity sector £14.1 million.

Their socio-economic impact report, carried out by NEF Consulting, confirms that by collecting food that would otherwise go to waste and redistributing it to good causes, FareShare saves the UK economy approximately £51 million every year.

This means that by collecting food that would otherwise go to waste and redistributing it to charity and community groups, FareShare creates approximately £50.9 million of social-economic impact each year. This is made up of £6.9 million in social value to the beneficiaries themselves and £44 million in savings to the State (i.e. to the NHS, the criminal justice system, to schools and social care).

We just felt that this was such a great cause. So we are donating 50p for every Food Gift sold and £5 for every trade order we send out to our wonderful retailers around the UK and world.

And if you wish to donate a little bit yourselves then their is that option at the checkout too.

We are using Work for Good to help process the donations
