Looking for a new twist on your Christmas roast? We've put together a selection of our favourite seasonings to ensure that you have an unforgettable festive feast.
The Christmas roast is often the centrepiece of our yuletide celebrations. A time to sit down with friends and family to share an abundant feast. Everyone has their favourites, but the festive line up is usually fairly similar: roast turkey, roast potatoes, pigs in blankets, a selection of vegetables and never forgetting the lovely Brussels sprouts. We're not suggesting that this needs to change, but we created the Christmas Roast Dinner Box for aspiring chefs looking to add an extra special touch to their Christmas dinner. The Christmas Roast Dinner box makes the perfect gift for roast-loving foodies that enjoy experimenting with new flavours, but it's also a great present to yourself if you find yourself in front of the cooker this Christmas. It'll definitely be a roast to remember!
Roast turkey
Choosing the perfect Christmas turkey is a fine art. Size-wise, here's a good list to work from:
3kg serves 6 to 7
4kg serves 8 to 10
5kg serves 10 to 12
6kg serves 12 to 14
7kg serves 14 to 16
8kg serves 16 to 18
9kg serves 18 to 20
Not all turkeys are bred equal, and we recommend buying the best quality bird that your budget will allow - there are some great tips here. To give your bird a richer, deeper flavour, generously massage with our Roast Turkey Rub the night before roasting. The sweet and spicy flavours bring warmth and a beautiful golden finish to your turkey. Leftover turkey should be eaten within two days, so if you don’t think you’ll get through it in time stick it in the freezer in portions.
Roast potatoes
Voted our favourite part of the Christmas meal, you've got to get the roast potatoes right. The Maris Piper is a perennial favourite variety, but we also love King Edwards. Our award-winning Roast Potato Oil transforms the 9humble spud into a crisp, smoky delicacy. Always over cater with roast potatoes to make sure there are plenty left for Boxing Day bubble and squeak!
Pigs in blankets
A porky parcel of perfection if I ever saw one. Choose good quality pork chipolata sausages and wrap them with streaky bacon to get the perfect crisp. A generous dusting of Pigs in Blankets Dust is the perfect finishing touch. Just cook your Pigs in Blankets as you like and sprinkle with the dust and put back in the oven for ten minutes.
Brussels sprouts
Love them or hate them, it certainly wouldn't be a Christmas roast without them! The area covered by Brussels sprout fields in the UK is the equivalent of 3,240 football pitches, and the sprout industry is worth a gargantuan £650,000,000. We're firmly in the love camp here at Ross and Ross, so we created Brussels Sprout Dust to complement their flavour.
We make chicken and vegetable skewers and we brush them with chilli jam, I have ordered more online, as this is the best we have tried. Have ordered pineapple one too but not tried yet, we are so excited as we’re sure it will be amazing, like it’s shelf mate.
I tried this glaze for my roast gammon at Christmas, it was a great hit. I just had to have more. The only negative was that one of the jars had opened & leaked. Otherwise excellent.
